We don't intend to write an orchid thesis here. There is a wealth of information about orchids available on the Web and there are many excellent books on orchids. Look at our resources page for help with finding good information. The point here is that once you start pondering different aspects of the orchid family there are a great many ways to enjoy a collection. We want to encourage you to see your plants in a larger perspective by specializing in a certain area.
